67. Okonomi-yaki Party

We had an OKONOMI-YAKI PARTY! We were 4 Japanese and 2 of us are from Hiroshima! Hiroshima is famous for okonomi-yaki as well as the first atomic bomb attack in the world. So, other friend and I basically left a main job to these two and just followed their instructions. Since it is difficult to make Hiroshima style okonomi-yaki, we tried a Kansai style. If my understanding is correct, the Hiroshima style uses less mixture (flour + soup), and puts ingredients on top of it and cooks, while the Kansai style puts ingredients into a mixture and cooks it like a pancake.

Look at the photos below. It was sooooo delicious! We also had takana maki zushi (photo 3), mâbô nasu (aubergine) (photo 4), roast chicken (no photos), beer and cider. For okonomi-yaki, we used cabbage, bean sprouts, carrots, shrimps, pork, egg noodles and spring onions for topping.

It is early for the end-of-year party, but as one of us is soon going back to Japan for a while for data collection, this was the last opportunity to get together this year. Can't wait next year^^
